Bucs lethargic in 20-3 loss to Steelers

It almost seemed as if the Bucs didn’t want to play today.  Bruce Gradkowski had his worst game as an NFL QB, as he completed 20 of 34 passes for 175 yards and 3 INTs.  He also ran the ball 6 times for 26 yards (4.3 ypc).  Ernest Graham finally got some action this season and carried the ball 4 times for 35 yards (8.8 ypc).  Cadillac Williams had a hard time getting out of the garage with 11 carries for 27 yards (2.5 ypc) and he caught 4 passes for 30 yards.  Mike Alstott carried the ball 6 times for 13 yards (2.2 ypc).  Michael Clayton caught 4 passes for 57 yards.

The defense played pretty well for the Bucs.  The Steelers carried the ball 31 times for 76 yards (2.5 ypc).  The Steelers only completed 12 of 25 passes for 191 net yards thru the air.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

The Bucs have been horrible all season and have only won 1 of their last 5 games.  The Steelers got absolutely punished last week by the Ravens.

The Bucs would like to run the ball with Cadillac Williams (697 yards rushing) against the tough Steelers defense that is allowing 99.5 yards rushing per game and 3.6 yards per carry.  The Bucs had better be able to pick up the aggressive blitzing scheme of the Steelers D or Bruce Gradkowski will be in a world of hurt.

The Steelers will probably be content to feed Willie Parker (915 yards rushing) the ball.  The Bucs allow 122.3 yards rushing per game and 4.0 yards per carry, so Parker should have a good game.  All signs points to Ben Roethlisberger having a good game this week despite not having Hines Ward for the game.  The Bucs don’t rush or defend the pass well.

The Steelers should roll to an easy win here as long as they protect the football.
