Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking Buccs News,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General Buccaneers Talk by admin on Saturday 15 March 2008 at 2:16 am

The Buccaneers have signed safety Eugene Wilson to a 1-year, $1.8 million dollar contract.  Wilson played in 11 games for the Patriots last season and he made 31 tackles, defensed 3 passes and intercepted a pass that he returned for a TD.  Wilson has now played in 62 games in his NFL career and he has made 254 tackles, defensed 28 passes, forced 2 fumbles and intercepted 10 passes including one of which that he returned for a TD.  This was another good signing by the Bucs who appear to have a money tree growing in their backyard.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers keep busy and sign DE Marques Douglas

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking Buccs News,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General Buccaneers Talk by admin on Thursday 13 March 2008 at 5:47 pm

The Buccaneers have signed DE Marques Douglas to a 4-year contract.  He played in all 16 games for the 49ers last season and he made 72 tackles, defensed 3 passes and had 3 sacks.  Douglas has now played in 88 games in his NFL career and he has made 339 tackles, defensed 10 passes, has 19 sacks and he has forced 6 fumbles.  This was a solid signing for the Bucs.

WR Antonio Bryant has signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking Buccs News,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General Buccaneers Talk by admin on Wednesday 12 March 2008 at 12:57 pm

The Bucs have signed WR Antonio Bryant.  The 27-year old Bryant was out of the NFL last season but he could give the Bucs speed opposite Joey Galloway to really open up the downfield passing game in 2008.  Bryant has played in 77 games in his NFL career and he has caught 250 passes for 3,837 yards (15.3 avg) with 19 TD grabs.  This was a good low risk/high reward signing for the Bucs.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers sign RB Warrick Dunn

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking Buccs News,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General Buccaneers Talk by admin on Wednesday 12 March 2008 at 12:55 pm

The Buccaneers have brought back RB Warrick Dunn on a 2-year, $6 million dollar contract.  The 33-year old Dunn played in 16 games last season with the Falcons and he carried the ball 227 times for 720 yards (3.2 ypc) with 4 TD runs and he also caught 37 passes for 238 yards (6.4 avg).  Dunn has now played in 166 games in his NFL career and he has carried the ball 2,483 times for 10,181 yards (4.1 ypc) with 47 TD runs.  He also has caught 463 passes for 4,009 yards (8.7 avg) with 15 TD grabs.  This could signal the possible end of Cadillac Williams’ stay with the Bucs as he will likely be behind both Ernest Graham and Warrick Dunn on the depth chart.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers sign TE Ben Troupe

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking Buccs News,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General Buccaneers Talk by admin on Friday 7 March 2008 at 11:22 am

The Buccaneers have signed TE Ben Troupe to a 2-year contract.  Troupe played in 16 games for the Titans last season and he caught 5 passes for 47 yards (9.4 avg).  He has now played in 55 games in his NFL career and he has caught 106 passes for 1,056 yards (10.0 avg) with 7 TD grabs.  Troupe has the reputation of being a good receiver but his results have been average to this point in his career.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers sign LB Matt McCoy

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking Buccs News,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General Buccaneers Talk by admin on Wednesday 5 March 2008 at 7:40 am

The Bucs have signed 25-year old linebacker Matt McCoy.  McCoy has been nothing more than a tease in his NFL career as he was a fairly high draft pick who has flopped so far in his NFL career.  He played in 7 games last season for the Eagles and he made 7 tackles.  McCoy has now played in 30 games in his NFL career and he has made 81 tackles, defensed 3 passes, sacked the QB 2 times and he has forced 3 fumbles.  He will likely be no more than a reserve and a special teams player for the Bucs.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers sign LB Teddy Lehman

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking Buccs News,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General Buccaneers Talk by admin on Wednesday 5 March 2008 at 7:37 am

The Bucs have signed 26-year old linebacker Teddy Lehman.  Lehman stands at 6’1″, 238 pounds and he was once a starter for the Lions but he’s had injury problems in the past.  He played in all 16 games last season for the Lions and he made 27 tackles and forced a fumble.  Lehman has now played in 41 games and he has made 148 tackles, defensed 5 passes, has 1 sack, forced 2 fumbles and he’s intercepted 2 passes.  Lehman should be a solid backup for the Bucs next season.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers acquire QB Brian Griese from the Bears

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking Buccs News,Front Page,General Buccaneers Talk,The Draft Report by admin on Monday 3 March 2008 at 7:31 pm

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have acquired 32-year old QB Brian Griese from the Bears for an undisclosed 2009 Draft Pick.  Griese will compete with Luke McCown for the backup job.  He played in 7 games last season for the Bears and he completed 161 of 262 passes (61.5%) for 1,803 yards with 10 TD passes and 12 interceptions (75.6 QB Rating).  He also carried the ball 13 times for 28 yards (2.2 ypc).  Griese has now played in 88 games in his NFL career and he has completed 1,642 of 2,612 passes (62.9%) for 11,492 yards with 114 TD passes and 92 interceptions (83.6 QB Rating).  He also has carried the ball 233 times for 583 yards (2.5 ypc) with 5 TD runs.  This was a good move for the Bucs as the Draft Pick will probably be a really late one.

DT Jimmy Wilkerson signs with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking Buccs News,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General Buccaneers Talk by admin on Saturday 1 March 2008 at 10:05 pm

The Buccaneers have signed 27-year old DT Jimmy Wilkerson.  Wilkerson played in 16 games last season for the Chiefs and he made 23 tackles and he had a 1/2 sack.  He has now played in 72 games in his NFL career and he has made 94 tackles, defensed 4 passes and has one sack.  This was nothing more than a depth signing for the Bucs as Wilkerson is not likely to make a huge impact.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers sign TE John Gilmore

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking Buccs News,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General Buccaneers Talk by admin on Saturday 1 March 2008 at 10:02 pm

The Bucs have signed 6’5″, 257 pound tight end John Gilmore to a 3-year contract.  The 28-year old Gilmore is a solid run blocker but he’s not much of a receiver.  Gilmore played in 15 games last season for the Bears and he caught 3 passes for 14 yards (4.7 avg).  Gilmore has now played in 86 games in his NFL career and he has caught 21 passes for 194 yards (9.2 avg) with 3 TD grabs.  I don’t really see the point in bringing in another TE that is not a receiving threat.
