2. (58) Dexter Jackson, WR/KR

Dexter Jackson is on the small side at 5’9″, 181 pounds but he is lightning quick running a 4.39 40.  Jackson has the ability to take any kick or punt back for a TD and that will probably be his biggest role as a rookie.  Jackson is a tough guy who’s not scared to go over the middle despite his size.  But, he will likley be nothing more than a #4 or #5 WR for the Bucs as a rookie.  Jackson played in 55 games (24 starts) in his career at Appalachian State and he has caught 110 passes for 1,846 yards (16.8 avg) with 17 TD grabs.  This might look like a great pick down the road but not for the present.

1. (20) Aqib Talib, CB

Aqib Talib was a surprise first round pick for the Buccaneers who had more pressing needs elsewhere.  With that in mind you would think that they would have drafted a higher ranked prospect with this pick.  Talib often got toasted in big games as he didn’t match up well with fast receivers.  That’s because he runs a 4.55 40 and can’t make up for his mistakes with speed.  He also is a little soft for a player that stands 6’1″, 205 pounds.  Talib played in 34 games (32 starts) at Kansas and he made 162 tackles, broke up 48 passes, had 13 interceptions, forced 3 fumbles and recovered 3 fumbles.  Talib will likely start his career as a nickel back and special teams player but he has the potential to start eventually because of the Bucs’ cover two defense.
