The Tampa Bay Buccaneers release DB Eugene Wilson

The Buccaneers were not impressed with DB Eugene Wilson in the preseason so they let him go.  Wilson played in 4 games for the Bucs this preseason and he made 10 tackles and had a sack.  He was quickly signed by the Texans after the Bucs let him go.

The over/under for Tampa Bay Buccaneers wins in 8 for 2008

I don’t see where the Buccaneers have gotten better in the off season while the Saints and Panthers have reloaded.  With that in mind I have to take the under with the Bucs.  Everything would have to go right for the Bucs to win the NFC South again in 2008 and I just don’t see it in the cards.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers release QB Chris Simms

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Breaking Buccs News, General Buccaneers Talk by admin on Thursday 4 September 2008 at 6:12 pm

The Buccaneers have released QB Chris Simms.  Simms completed 19 of 30 passes (63.3%) in the preseason for 155 yards with 0 TD passes and 1 interception (62.5 QB Rating).  The Buccaneers liked there other 4 QBs better than Simms so this wasn’t a hard choice to make.  It’s not as if teams were lining up to sign Simms after he was cut as he still doesn’t have a job yet.  Simms played in 19 games in his career with the Bucs and he completed 291 of 492 passes (59.1%) for 3,087 yards with 12 TD passes and 17 interceptions (71.2 QB Rating).  Good riddance Chris Simms.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers release CB Sammy Davis

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Breaking Buccs News, Injury Reports, General Buccaneers Talk by admin on Monday 1 September 2008 at 1:29 am

The Buccaneers have released CB Sammy Davis after arriving at an injury settlement with him due to a injured hip.  Davis played in 14 games for the Bucs last season and he made 19 tackles and defensed 1 pass.  The Buccaneers won’t miss Davis much as he didn’t play too well for them last season.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers trade DL Marques Douglas to the Ravens

Blogged under Trades, Bloglockers, Front Page, Breaking Buccs News, General Buccaneers Talk by admin on Monday 1 September 2008 at 1:27 am

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers took advantage of the Ravens who had just lost DT Dwan Edwards for the season as they traded them 31-year old DL Marques Douglas for a late round pick in 2009 and a conditional pick in 2010.  Getting two draft picks for a free agent signed in the off season was a excellent move for the Bucs.  Douglas played in all 16 games for the Niners last season and he made 72 tackles, intercepted 3 passes and defensed 3 passes.  The better Douglas plays this season the better the draft pick in 2010 so Bucs’ fans should be rooting for him to do well in Baltimore.
