The Tampa Bay Buccaneers sign DT Jovan Haye

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking Buccs News,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General Buccaneers Talk by admin on Tuesday 20 December 2011 at 1:05 am

The Buccaneers have signed 29-year old DT Jovan Haye.  Haye played in 1 game for the Lions this year and he had 2 tackles.  Haye has now played in 70 games in his first six years for the Bucs and he has 183 tackles, 6.5 sacks, 5 tackles for a loss, 1 forced fumble, 4 fumble recoveries and 4 passes defensed.  Haye started his career with the Bucs and he had his most success playing for them.  So maybe he will provide a spark on the interior of the D-Line as the Bucs need help there badly.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers sign DE Nick Reed

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking Buccs News,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General Buccaneers Talk by admin on Tuesday 13 December 2011 at 7:51 pm

The Buccaneers have signed 24-year old DE Nick Reed.  Reed played in 7 games earlier this year for the Bears and he had 6 tackles and 1 pass defensed.  He has now played in 23 games in his first two years in the NFL and he has 23 tackles, 1 sack, 2 fumble recoveries and 3 passes defensed.  Reed will probably get on the field against the Cowboys this weekend as the Bucs are lacking depth along the D-Line due to a recent rash of injuries.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers sign DT John McCargo

Blogged under Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General Buccaneers Talk by admin on Wednesday 9 November 2011 at 1:04 pm

The Buccaneers have signed 28-year old DT John McCargo.  McCargo played in 1 game for the Bills earlier this year and he had 1 tackle.  He has now played in 33 games in his first four years in the NFL and he has 47 tackles, 2.5 sacks, 6 tackles for a loss, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery and 5 passes defensed.  The Buccaneers hope that McCargo will help fill the void inside with Gerald McCoy done for the season due to injury.

UPDATE:  The Buccaneers have released John McCargo.  They didn’t need him around anymore after they claimed Albert Haynesworth off waivers from the Patriots.

UPDATE II:  (11/14/2011) – The Buccaneers have re-signed DT John McCargo.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers sign a long snapper and they release one

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking Buccs News,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General Buccaneers Talk,Leaving Town by admin on Thursday 15 September 2011 at 1:58 am

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have signed 23-year old Scott Albritton to be the new “starting” long snapper.  He will replace 23-year old Christian Yount out of UCLA who has been released.  Yount played in the season opener for the Bucs against the Lions last weekend.  He didn’t appear to screw anything up in his NFL debut, but he still got cut.

UPDATE:  (9/17/2011) – The Buccaneers have re-signed Christian Yount and they have released Scott Albritton.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers sign LB Zac Diles

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking Buccs News,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General Buccaneers Talk by admin on Monday 5 September 2011 at 2:35 pm

The Buccaneers have signed 26-year old linebacker Zac Diles.  Diles played in 15 games for the Texans last year and he had 82 tackles and 4 tackles for a loss.  He has now played in 50 games in his first four years in the NFL and he has 223 tackles, 1 sack, 15 tackles for a loss, 3 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery, 3 passes defensed and 1 interception.  Diles isn’t a big time playmaker, but he is a solid linebacker, so I like this pickup for the Bucs.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers sign DT John McCargo

The Buccaneers have signed 28-year old DT John McCargo.  McCargo played in 1 game for the Bills last year and he had 1 whole tackle.  McCargo has now played in 33 games in his first five years in the NFL and he has 47 tackles, 6 tackles for a loss, 2.5 sacks, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery and 5 passes defensed.  He has been a bust to this point in his career but maybe a change of scenery will spark McCargo into being the player the Bills thought they were drafting.

UPDATE:  (9/3/2011) – The Buccaneers have released John McCargo.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers sign CB Ashton Youboty

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking Buccs News,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General Buccaneers Talk by admin on Tuesday 16 August 2011 at 2:30 pm

The Buccaneers have signed 27-year old cornerback Ashton Youboty.  Youboty played in 13 games for the Bills last year and he had 2 tackles.  He has now played in 43 games in his first five years in the NFL and he has 60 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 forced fumble, 1 interception, 7 passes defensed and 2 tackles for a loss.  Youboty will give the Bucs more depth at CB in 2011, but they better hope that he doesn’t have a big role in 2011.

UPDATE:  (8/29/2011) – The Buccaneers have released Ashton Youboty.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers sign QB Jonathan Crompton

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking Buccs News,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General Buccaneers Talk by admin on Saturday 6 August 2011 at 12:20 am

The Buccaneers have signed 24-year old QB Jonathan Crompton.  Crompton has yet to play in a regular season game in his NFL career.  He will battle Rudy Carpenter for the #3 QB job in training camp and the pre-season.  I like this move as Crompton will challenge Carpenter and competition is always good.

UPDATE:  (9/3/2011) – The Buccaneers have released Jonathan Crompton.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers sign punter Michael Koenen

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking Buccs News,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General Buccaneers Talk by admin on Saturday 30 July 2011 at 1:59 pm

The Buccaneers have signed 29-year old punter Michael Koenen to a 6-year, $19.5 million dollar deal.  Koenen played in 16 games for the Falcons last year and he punted the ball 74 times for 3,014 yards (40.7 avg).  He had only 5 touchbacks (6.8%) and he pinned the opposition inside their own 20-yard line 29 times (39.2%) last year.  Koenen has now played in 96 games in his first six years in the NFL and he has punted the ball 440 times for 18,501 yards (42.0 avg).  He also has 32 touchbacks (7.3%) and 150 punts downed inside the opposing 20-yard line (34.1%).  The fact the Koenen has had six punts blocked and that he has 22 tackles in his career makes you wonder why the Bucs gave him such a nice contract.  Koenen has made 4 of 13 field goals (30.8%) and he has also made all four of his extra point attempts, good for 16 points.  He could help the Bucs out on long range field goals if the need it.

Corey Lynch is the new starting free safety for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Blogged under Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General Buccaneers Talk,Needs to Step Up by admin on Wednesday 1 December 2010 at 1:59 am

With Cody Grimm on I.R. and Sabby Piscitelli cut, the Bucs will turn to Corey Lynch as the new starting free safety.  Lynch has played in 11 games for the Bucs (mostly on special teams) and he has 6 tackles.  He has now played in 24 games in two years with the Bucs and he has 12 tackles and 1 pass defensed.  The Buccaneers have signed safety Vince Anderson off their practice squad and rookie Larry Asante off the Browns’ practice squad.  The Bucs better hope one of these three guys step up or they are going to be in big trouble at the back end of the defense.
