The Bucs have lost 29-year old CB Torrie Cox for the rest of the season due to a injured hip.  Cox had 21 tackles for the Bucs this season.  In five years with the Buccaneers, Cox has played in 56 games in which he has made 79 tackles, defensed 5 passes, forced 1 fumble and he has 1 interception that he returned 55 yards for a TD.  Cox has also returned 77 punts for 1,758 yards (22.8 avg) in his time with the Buccaneers.

The Buccaneers have lost starting punter Dirk Johnson for the season due to a severe hamsting injury.  Johnson played in all 11 games for the Bucs this season and he punted the ball 62 times for 2,558 yards (41.3 avg).  He only had 3 touchbacks (4.8%) and he placed the ball inside the opposing 20 yard line 16 times (25.8%) this year.  The Bucs will be signing a new punter this week but he will be hard pressed to do as good of a job as Johnson was.

The Bucs have placed 29-year old QB Byron Leftwich on the Injured Reserve List ending his season with a elbow problem.  Leftwich played in 3 games for the Bucs this year and he completed 58 of 107 passes (54.2%) for 594 yards with 4 TD passes and 3 INTs (71.2 QB Rating).  He also carried the ball 6 times for 6 yards (1.0 ypc) this year.  Don’t look for Leftwich to return to the Buccaneers next year.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers lose Will Allen for the season

The Buccaneers have lost backup safety Will Allen for the year due to a broken thumb.  Allen played in 8 games this season for the Buccaneers and he made 20 tackles and defensed 1 pass.  Corey Lynch will replace Allen on the second team.  He has played in 5 games for the Bucs this season and he has 1 tackle and he has defensed 1 pass.  Lynch will likely at least be an equal to Allen who just isn’t that much of a player.

The Bucs will be without 27-year old linebacker Rod Wilson for the rest of the season as he has been placed on Injured Reserve.  He played in 8 games this season and he racked up 3 whole tackles.  You now it’s not looking too good for your NFL career when a team like the Bucs won’t miss you at all but that is the case with Wilson.
