The Bucs fought the Titans hard in this game but just not hard enough to win the game.  Luke McCown started this game and he completed 4 of 8 passes for 19 yards.  He also carried the ball 2 times for 13 yards.  Byron Leftwich looked better than McCown in this game completing 6 of 14 passes for 61 yards with 1 TD pass.  Rookie Josh Freeman looked like a deer in headlights in this game completing 5 of 9 passes for 52 yards.  He also threw pick six as Titans’ CB Ryan Mouton returned a Freeman INT 29 yards for a TD.  Josh Johnson finished up the game for the Bucs and he was impressive completing 3 of 5 passes for 15 yards.  He also carried the ball 1 time for a 43-yard TD.  RB Kareem Huggins led the Bucs in rushing in this game with 43 yards on 9 carries (4.8 ypc).  He also caught 3 passes for 14 yards (4.7 avg) as he was very busy.  WR Sammie Stroughter led the way for the Bucs in this game with 42 yards receiving on 3 catches (14.0 avg).  The Bucs were great running the ball in this game with 138 yards rushing on 26 carries (5.3 ypc).  But, they only had 118 yards passing in this game.

Despite the Titans scoring 27 points in this game the Bucs’ defense looked solid.  Linebacker Adam Hayward and CB Marshall McDuffie led the Bucs with six tackles apiece.  The Bucs only allowed 278 total yards in this game (92 yards rushing, 186 passing).

Linebacker Patrick Chukwurah led an impressive Bucs’ defense with 6 tackles in this game.  The Texans finished up with 58 yards rushing on 17 carries (3.4 ypc) and they also completed 15 of 33 passes for 137 yards.  The Buccaneers finished the preseason with a 3-1 record.

The Buccaneers looked great against the scrubs that the Patriots played last night.  Brian Griese was very efficient completing 9 of 10 passes for 44 yards.  Luke McCown followed Griese in the game and he was also solid completing 7 of 10 passes for 79 yards with a 1-yard TD pass to fullback Byron Storer.  Chris Simms didn’t play much completing 2 of 4 passes for 24 yards.  Rookie Josh Johnson completed his only pass attempt in this game for 6 yards.  Michael Bennett led the way for the Bucs with 57 yards rushing on 8 carries (7.1 ypc).  Kenneth Darby also was busy carrying the ball 9 times for 33 yards (3.7 ypc).  Ernest Graham pitched in with 13 yards rushing on 5 carries (2.6 ypc) with a TD run.  Antonio Bryant was a busy body with 2 catches for 37 yards (18.5 avg) and he also carried the ball 1 time for 16 yards.  The Buccaneers finished up with 170 yards rushing on 36 carries (4.7 ypc) and they also completed 19 of 25 passes for 125 yards.  The Bucs controlled the clock for an amazing 37:58 of this football game.

CB Elbert Mack led a dominating effort by the Bucs’ defense with 4 tackles and a interception.  Safety Sabby Piscitelli also had a solid game with 3 tackles and a fumble recovery that he returned 24-yards for a TD.  The Patriots only finished up with 56 yards rushing on 22 carries (2.5 ypc) and they also completed 12 of 25 passes for 118 yards.  While it’s true that the Patriots didn’t put there best team on the field this was still a nice win for the Bucs as they were dominating.

The Bucs were very efficient on both sides of the ball defeating the horrible Miami Dolphins last Saturday Night.  Luke McCown got the start and he was effective completing 9 of 15 passes for 70 yards.  Brian Griese was the most impressive QB of the night for the Bucs as he completed 10 of 14 passes for 59 yards with a 3-yard TD pass with WR Brian Clark.  Chris Simms was also pretty good on Saturday Night with a lot of scouts in attendance as he completed 8 of 10 passes for 60 yards.  Rookie Josh Johnson completed his only pass attempt in his NFL debut for 15 yards.  Michael Bennett was a workhorse for the Bucs against the Dolphins carrying the football 19 times for 74 yards (3.9 ypc) with 1 TD run (1-yarder).  He also caught 4 passes for 16 yards against the Fins.  Clifton Smith was also busy carrying the ball 9 times for 28 yards (3.1 ypc).  Kenneth Darby pitched in with 12 yards on 5 carries (2.4 ypc) on Saturday.  TE John Gilmore caught 3 passes for 25 yards (8.3 avg) as he was one of 14 different receivers to catch a pass for the Bucs in this game.  The Buccaneers finished up with 114 yards rushing on 33 carries (3.5 ypc).  They also completed 28 of 40 passes for 181 yards as they held onto the football for a stunning 36:11 on Saturday Night.

The defense was awesome for the Bucs on Saturday Night in Miami.  Safety Will Allen led the way for the Bucs with 4 tackles.  CB Ronde Barber also was very effective with 3 tackles and a sack.  The Dolphins finished up with only 64 yards rushing on 16 carries (4.0 ypc).  The Bucs only allowed 134 yards passing as the Fins completed 15 of 27 passes.  This was a nice win to start the preseason for the Bucs but they were likely playing the worst team in the NFL so I wouldn’t get too excited about it.

The Buccaneers looked solid on offense but their defense got pushed around by the Jaguars on Saturday Night.  Jeff Garcia looked great as he completed all 6 of his passes for 43 yards with a TD pass.  Luke McCown replaced him and he looked o.k. completing 9 of 13 passes for 66 yards and he also carried the ball 3 times for 37 yards (12.3 ypc).  Bruce Gradkowski also looked pretty good as he finished the game up completing 7 of 11 passes for 113 yards with a TD pass.  Running back Earnest Graham led the way in the running game for the Bucs with 6 carries for 34 yards (5.7 ypc).  Rookie Kenneth Darby had another semi-decent game with 20 yards on 8 carries (2.5 ypc) with a TD run.  Undrafted rookie Chas Gessner led the way for Bucs’ receivers with 4 catches for 48 yards (12.0 avg).  Mark Jones (53 yarder) and David Boston (19 yarder) each only caught one pass and it was a TD.  The Bucs finished up rushing for 114 yards on 24 carries (4.8 ypc) and they also completed 22 of 30 passes for 208 yards.

The defense got pushed around by the Jaguars.  The Jags carried the football 37 times for 154 yards (4.2 ypc) and they also completed 18 of 27 passes for 223 yards.  They have two weeks to improve their situation before the games count.
